Get Aligned: 26 October 2026
Five under five
Transcript
This is Get Aligned for the 26th of October 2026. AI for busy teams, from AgentAligned. Five under five: five updates from this past week in under five minutes, with one thing to try for each. This week's theme is AI that checks with you before it acts or produces. Three big ones first, then two quick bonus notes at the end.
Number one. Claude Duet.
Anthropic has released Claude Duet, a new background agent. Anthropic says it carries over your Claude memory, skills and connected apps, and checks your accounts every few hours. It asks before it sends, pays, signs or deletes anything, and trading securities and moving money are off-limits.
So here's the test, and it works for any agent. Spend twenty minutes with your account or project manager. List the three inboxes, channels or trackers a morning brief should watch, write two lines defining urgent, and write the approval rule: it drafts and summarises, but never sends, books or deletes without you. A good result is a one-page brief spec your team agrees on.
One catch. Duet is a research preview with a waitlist, starting with Pro and Max subscribers in the US.
Number two. Canva Craft.
Craft is Canva's first image generation model. Canva says it plans the layout and any text before it renders, and that its output suits Magic Layers, which turns images into editable design elements. Images go up to 2K, with text in 55 languages.
So brief your designer. Generate one social graphic with an approved headline in the image, at your campaign's aspect ratio. Convert it with Magic Layers, then check spelling, brand colours and type. A good result is a graphic your designer can make on-brand in under fifteen minutes without regenerating.
It's live for all Canva users in Dream Lab, in the bottom left panel.
Number three. Gemini Notebook.
Gemini Notebook now walks you through creating slide decks and video overviews from your sources. Turn on the new Review toggle, and you see the slide outline or the video's producer notes first. Add written feedback, then select Proceed.
Try this with your strategist or content lead. Add last month's campaign report and meeting notes to a notebook, ask for a six-slide client update deck with Review on, correct the outline once, then select Proceed. A good result is a deck that needs wording edits only.
It's for all Google Workspace and personal Google accounts, but the rollout began on the 16th of October and can take up to fifteen days, so you may not see it yet.
Now, two quick bonus notes.
Bonus one. ChatGPT Slides goes multiplayer. OpenAI says teammates can now edit a deck together in real time, and mention ChatGPT in shared comments to make edits. It's still rolling out to eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access.
Bonus two. One thing to try this week. If there's only one thing you get to do this week, try a voice conversation with Grok Bot.
We rate its voice chat as best in class, thanks to Grok Voice 3.0. It ranks number one on Artificial Analysis's Speech-to-Speech Index, with a score of 86.9. New this week: iPhone Action Button support and Pages. There's a free trial with limited usage. Talk through next week's client updates instead of typing them, then ask the Bot to turn the result into a Page your team can open.
That's it for this week. Pick the one task that fits work already on your plan, give it an owner and a clear idea of what good looks like, and see if the tool earns its place.

AI news for busy teams, 18 to 24 October 2026: three tools now check with you before they act or produce. Look at Claude Duet for a morning brief that asks before it acts, Canva Craft for on-brand graphics you can still edit, and Gemini Notebook for checking a deck's outline before it is built. Each comes with one bounded task and who should own it.
Key takeaways
- Account and project managers: Write down what a morning brief should flag and what it must never send without you, ready for Claude Duet or any agent.
- Designers and brand managers: Make one social graphic in Canva Craft and check it can be edited on-brand.
- Strategists and content leads: Turn on Review in Gemini Notebook and fix the outline before a client deck is built.
How we chose this week's updates
This edition covers 18 to 24 October 2026. See how we choose Get Aligned.
1. Claude Duet: can an AI agent run your morning brief and ask before it acts?
Announced by Anthropic on 21 October 2026 · Covered by Paul J Lipsky, Matt Wolfe, The AI Advantage and Riley Brown on 23 October
Anthropic says so, with approvals built in. Claude Duet is a new background agent from Anthropic, which says it carries over your memory, skills and connected apps and checks your accounts every few hours. It asks before it sends, pays, signs or deletes anything; trading securities and moving money are off-limits. (Anthropic's announcement)
Deciding what an agent may do alone is the hard part; teams that write it down first get value sooner with any agent.
Try with your account or project manager: Spend 20 minutes agreeing which three inboxes, channels or trackers a morning brief should watch and what counts as "urgent". Useful result: a one-page brief spec your team agrees on.
Action
Try this prompt: Written for brand and marketing teams. Paste it into Duet, swap the bracketed details for your own and send.
Set up a morning brief for me as [Brand name]'s marketing lead. Each morning, list the five most important items from [Gmail, Slack and our project tracker], with anything about [campaign or product] first. Only message me during the day about [what counts as urgent]. Draft replies where useful, but show me before anything is sent.
Access: Duet is a research preview with a waitlist, starting with US Pro and Max subscribers.

2. Canva Craft: can it make an on-brand graphic your designer can still edit?
Announced by Canva on 22 October 2026 · Covered by Matt Wolfe on 23 October
Craft is Canva's first image generation model, and Canva says its output suits Magic Layers, which turns images into editable design elements. Canva also says it plans the layout and any text before rendering. Images go up to 2K in more than 30 aspect ratios, with text in 55 languages. (Canva's announcement)
A generated image only saves time if your designer can fix the headline, colours and layout without starting again.
Brief your designer: Generate one social graphic at your campaign's aspect ratio with the prompt below, convert it with Magic Layers, then check spelling, brand colours and type. Useful result: your designer makes it on-brand in under 15 minutes without regenerating. If not, note what broke.
Action
Try this prompt: Written for brand and marketing teams. Open Dream Lab, pick your aspect ratio, swap the bracketed details and generate.
Social post for [Brand name] promoting [campaign or product]. Show the headline "[approved headline]" exactly as written, large and legible at the top. Clean, uncluttered layout using [brand colours], with the product in the centre and clear space bottom right for the logo. Keep the headline, product and background visually distinct.
Access: Craft is live for all Canva users globally in Dream Lab (bottom left panel) and Canva's Public API; Canva MCP support is "coming soon".

3. Gemini Notebook: can you fix a deck's outline before it is built?
Announced by Google on 19 October 2026 · Covered by Paul J Lipsky on 23 October
Yes. Gemini Notebook now walks you through creating Slide Decks and Video Overviews from your sources. With the new Review toggle on, the Studio panel shows the slide outline or the video's producer notes; add written feedback, then select "Proceed". You can still skip review and generate straight away. (Google's announcement)
Correcting an outline takes a minute; rebuilding a finished deck takes an afternoon.
Try with your strategist or content lead: Add last month's campaign report and meeting notes to a notebook, turn Review on, run the prompt below and correct the outline once in writing before you select "Proceed". Useful result: a deck that needs wording edits only.
Action
Try this prompt: Written for brand and marketing teams. Paste it into the notebook chat with Review on and swap the bracketed details.
Using only the sources in this notebook, create a six-slide update deck on [campaign or product] for [audience, for example our client's marketing director]. Open with an executive summary, then results, what we learned and next steps. Keep the tone [brand tone, for example plain and confident]. Show me the outline notes to review before you build any slides.
Access: Available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts, with no admin control. Google says the rollout began on 16 October 2026 and features can take up to 15 days to appear.

Bonus
Bonus: one thing to try this week
If there's only one thing you get to do this week, try a voice conversation with Grok Bot. We rate Grok Bot's voice chat best in class, thanks to Grok Voice 3.0. It ranks number one on Artificial Analysis's Speech-to-Speech Index, with a score of 86.9; xAI released it on 14 October and says it powers Grok Bot's voice mode. New this week: iPhone Action Button support and Pages. You can run several Bots at once, working in parallel, and xAI offers a free trial with limited usage. Start a voice chat on desktop or mobile, talk through next week's client updates instead of typing them, then ask the Bot to turn the result into a Page your team can open.

What should your team do this week?
Pick the one task that matches work already on your plan. Give it an owner, approved inputs and a definition of an acceptable result, then record the edits and review time before deciding whether the tool earns a place. See building a golden evaluation set.
If the same work keeps stalling between the brief, the assets and the approvals, show AgentAligned the bottleneck and we will assess whether a Bottleneck Diagnostic is the right next step.
